Adult Membership requirements:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Randolph Rescue Squad.

The Randolph Rescue Squad is a non-profit volunteer organization. We are governed by our own bylaws, rules, and regulations and we follow the protocol for EMS provided by the Federal Department of Transportation.

We respond to Randolph Township EMS 911 calls, fire calls, and we provide emergency and non-emergency transports. We are dispatched by the Morris County Dispatch Center.  We have three ambulance bays in the Township and maintain the four ambulances and one rehab/first-aid truck for standbys at local events and fire calls.

All training is given by either our own members or the staff at the schools we ask you to attend. There is no cost to you for the training except for your transportation to and from the training site.

  • be available for a minimum of one night time duty shift each week, Monday - Friday 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM, or Sunday 6:00PM -6:00AM. A shift time may be adjusted to coordinate with your work schedule. And one 36 hour weekend shift Saturday 6:00 AM - Sunday 6:00 PM once every 6 weeks.

  • Able to attend required training sessions provided by the Squad before you will be able to ride on one of our ambulances.

  • Able to participate in Squad functions and possibly serve on Squad committees.

  • Willing to make a commitment to the Squad.

  • You must be 18 years of age prior to your scheduled interview.

  • You must be a resident of Randolph Township or its surrounding area.

  • You must pass a pre-employment physical provided by the Township of Randolph.

  • You must be able to respond to one of our ambulance bays within 5 minutes when you are on duty.

  • You must have a current and valid driver's license.

  • Your driver's license must be relatively free of serious violations, including but not limited to speeding, careless or reckless driving, disregard of traffic signals/signs, and numerous accountable accidents.

  • Any violation involving DWI or driving under the influence of recreational drugs is grounds for immediate rejection of your application and removal from the Squad if you are already a member.

  • You must have access to a vehicle while on duty.

  • You may not have a criminal record or have been convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude.

  • You must be a citizen of the USA or a duly registered alien possessing a current Official Alien Registration Card issued by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Junior Membership requirements for 16 & 17 year olds

Junior members must be at least 16 years old but not older than 18 years old.  At RRS a regular member of the organization can join at 18.  A Junior member would essentially transition into regular membership at 18.  They must be able to follow directions under stressful conditions.  They should be in good physical condition to perform essential EMS tasks to assist EMT’s on emergency or non- emergency calls.  Juniors should be willing and able to attend at least 50% of scheduled meetings and required training.  Special trainings are optional but highly encouraged.  Juniors must maintain a 75% average or higher in their schoolwork to remain active.

Junior members have these guidelines to adhere to but will be also trained and become knowledgeable in RRS’s “Bylaws” and “Rules and Regulations”.  Junior members need to be self-starters and be willing to learn.  Juniors who regularly strive to learn more and  be  involved  will  be  rewarded  with  increasing  levels  of  responsibility  and opportunities.  Junior members who do not contribute to the agency will be removed from active status to allow other juniors the opportunity to participate.
